Here is a very interesting analysis of foreign currency loans and the toll that they may be taking on Eastern Europe. The author concludes with this important statement, “There are two lessons here. One is that, despite all the pain of the last two years, many of the risks that caused the financial crisis are still lurking in the system. Second, banking regulation works only if it is applied internationally.”
