He explains how, “In many smart-money circles, listening to bears has become fashionable, especially now that doubts remain about the sustainability of the euro zone, concerns grow that the United States may slip back into recession and that even the Chinese growth engine may seize up. But to some, the popularization of extremely dire forecasts suggests that the pendulum may have swung too far.”

Shop, Play & Eat with the Children’s Medical Fund & Corey Ribotsky

Certainly, anyone would enjoy being told to shop, play and eat – all while raising money for an important cause. On August 4^th, 2010, this is exactly what supporters of the Children’s Medical Fund of New York, where Corey Ribotsky is the President, were able to do. On the 4^th, at the Old Westbury Country Club, supporters were encouraged to enjoy playing Bridge, Mah Jong, Canasta and other games, all while supporting the Child Life Program at the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of NY.

In addition to the many games, supporters enjoyed a delicious lunch and a chance to shop for many lovely items. This fundraiser helped to ensure the best medical attention for children on Long Island with the Children’s Medical Fund and Corey Ribotsky.

June 14th, 2010 was a great day for the Children’s Medical Fund of New York. On this day, they hosted their 35th annual Men’s Division’s Golf & Tennis Charity Classic. This event has raised over a million dollars each year since its inception. This year, the proceeds benefited the Pediatric Orthopedic Program at the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York. Help at the Glen Oaks Club in Old Westbury, the evening honored Sue Schonfeld for her donation of $500,000 to the Children’s Medical Fund of New York.

Recent research has found that “first-line therapy with zidovudine and interferon-alpha improved overall survival with adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) in a retrospective study – but the benefit was limited to patients with the leukemic subtypes.” This has to be somewhat good news for those suffering from leukemia/lymphoma. Nonetheless, there is still much work to be done. And that is why it is essential that people who care support such organizations like the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), as does businessman Corey Ribotsky.

Onyx & Breezy Foundation Island Gala

During the spring, Sanibel and Captiva Islands in Florida hosted the first annual Onyx & Breezy Foundation Island Gala. Held at Ellington’s, the event raised money to help animals on Sanibel. Over 150 people came to the event.

The foundation was started by Mark and Wanda Shefts in memory of their two black Labradors, and other sponsors include Island Paws, Lily & Co. Jewelry Gallery, Corey Ribotsky of the NIR Group, and his wife Stacey and more.

The successful evening included a silent auction, a live auction, a four course meal and entertainment from comedian Elayne Boosler.

In recent news for the Children’s Medical Fund of New York, where Corey Ribotsky is the President, June 14^th was the 35^th Annual Gold & Tennis Charity Classic. This charity event honored Arthur A. Klein, MD, the Executive Director, Chief of Staff and Sr. Vice President of The Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York.

Sue Schonfeld was also honored, receiving the 2010 CMF Lifetime Achievement Award. This award reflects her lifetime commitment of philanthropy, including her generous support of the Hematology/Oncology Unit that is being constructed right now at The Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of NY.
